Chauffeur ID Board Technology

One of the most well known parts of a chauffeur’s job is standing at the airport arrivals gate with a piece of cardboard with their passenger’s name on it. It is shown in movies and on TV to denote the wealth and power of the passenger and it is often used to begin a ‘mistaken identity’ plot line on the big and small screen.

However, the identification board for passengers is one of the most varying parts of the limo hire industry and many limo hire companies go about creating ID boards differently.

Printing out a card with each passenger’s name on it for each trip can become expensive and time consuming as the boards must look professional, neat and tidy and therefore include the company logo, on nice card and protected from bending and smudging. However, this is a lot of effort to go to for a card which will not be used once the passengers have found their name in the crowd.

To combat this, there is a new product on the limousine market which is an electronic board and can include a colour logo and the name of the passenger. While it is rechargeable and can clip onto the belt of the chauffeur when they have to pick up the bags, it works as running text across the screen and can be hard to pick immediately which name and company is displayed.

Other chauffeurs have small whiteboards which they can wipe clean after each passenger and are easy to carry and store in between airport pick ups. Using a white board as an ID board however, means the chauffeur must have neat writing, be sure not to smudge the white board and make sure the board is clean after each use as it could end up as a smeared ‘grey’ board in a short time.

This is just another thing which is done in the way each limo hire company and chauffeur feels is the best for their business and the most important thing is that there is a board at all, so you don’t have to hunt down your chauffeur at the airport.
