Excursion Replaced

Stretch limousines are made from all sorts of ordinary and not so ordinary cars and it of course depends on what types of cars are in manufacture, as to the types of stretch limousines which can be created. There are often new and exciting stretch limousines created from new release vehicles, then there are the old favourites and sometimes, the old favourites are replaced by new favourites which is what will be happening to the Ford Excursion in 2007.

Ford is planning to replace their Excursion with a long wheelbase Expedition. The name is yet to be decided on and the replacement may be called the Everest or the Expedition Max. 

The new long wheelbase SUV will be 16 inches longer than the previous model Expedition and will be able to seat eight passengers, so while the replacement is shorter than the Excursion, it will be longer than any other model of Expedition.

The long wheelbase Expedition is based heavily on a modified F-150 truck base and is expected to give the new Chevrolet Suburban and the GMC Yukon XL a run for their money, both of which are also set to be released in 2007.

As Ford’s largest current SUV, the long wheelbase Expedition will be powered by a 5.4 litre V8 engine, with plans for a 6.2 litre turbo-diesel engine by 2008. So while there will be no new models of the Excursion to check out, the replacement, while a little smaller, will have all of the power and presence, but with a bit less of an impact on the environment.
